Partner Spotlight: The Running Centre

running-clubThe shoe store we trust with every single one of our patients — without hesitation.

Footwear isn’t a fashion choice. It’s load management. It can change how well you tolerate training, how quickly you settle symptoms, and how confidently you return to running or walking.

That’s why we send our patients to The Running Centre.

They’ve got the order right: “We don’t start with the shoes. We start with the person.” That means a proper conversation first (goals, training history, injuries, what you’re trying to achieve), then their complimentary 5-step BioFit fitting service: gait assessment, foot structure analysis, and trialling the right options. It’s hands-on and practical — you move, you jog, you feel the difference — and you leave with clarity, not guesswork.

man-runningThey also adapt the process to the individual. Elite runners get performance and efficiency focus. Beginners and walkers get comfort, support, and confidence. Same standard of care either way. “Every person who walks in has a different story, so our approach always starts with listening.”

From their side, they’ve described the collaboration with Perth Healthcare as “a seamless bridge between clinical care and practical, everyday movement.” Patients often arrive with guidance from us, which helps them fine-tune footwear to support rehab and long-term health goals — exactly how it should work.

They’re also heavily involved in the local running community, support other Perth businesses, and the shop is a genuine hub. If you want an easy way to plug in, they run a TRC Shop Run every Wednesday at 5:45pm, open to anyone.

Their bottom line on shoes is the right one: “There is no single ‘best shoe’ only the best shoe for you.” What works for someone else may not fit your gait, your goals, or your body. Getting it right matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you walk us through what a typical fitting experience looks like at The Running Centre — what can someone expect from the moment they walk through the door?

From the moment someone walks through our doors at The Running Centre, they’re welcomed into a relaxed, supportive space where the focus is entirely on them. We start with a conversation understanding goals, their training history, any injuries, and what they want to achieve.

From there we guide them through our 5 step BioFit fitting service, which is complimentary and designed to help us understand their foot type, movement patterns, and individual needs. This includes a gait assessment, foot structure analysis, and trying a range of suitable footwear options.

The experience is hands-on and collaborative. We encourage people to move, jog, and really feel the difference between shoes. Our aim is that they walk out not just with a great pair of shoes, but with confidence and clarity around what works best for their body.

What sets your fitting process apart from a standard shoe purchase, and why does that matter so much for someone dealing with an injury, returning from one, or just starting out?

The biggest difference is that we don’t start with the shoes. We start with the person.

A standard shoe purchase often focuses on brand or trend, whereas our process is about biomechanics, comfort, and purpose. For someone dealing with injury or returning from one, the right footwear can reduce load on sensitive areas, improve alignment, and support a safer return to movement.

For beginners, it builds confidence. When the shoe matches their body and goals, everything feels easier and more enjoyable & that’s what keeps people consistent.

We refer a wide range of patients to you — from elite athletes to people taking their first steps into walking for health. How do you adapt your approach to meet each person where they are?

Every person who walks in has a different story, so our approach always starts with listening.

For elite runners, the conversation might be about performance, efficiency, and race-day feel. For someone starting a walking program, it’s about comfort, support, and building trust in their body again.

We adjust the level of technical detail, the shoe selection, and the fitting process to suit the individual. What doesn’t change is the care and attention. Everyone gets the same level of respect, time, and guidance.

From your side, what does the collaboration with Perth Healthcare look like, and what’s been your experience working with our patients?

Our collaboration with Perth Healthcare is something we genuinely value. It creates a seamless bridge between clinical care and practical, everyday movement.

When patients come to us, they often arrive with clear guidance or insight from their practitioner, which helps us fine tune footwear choices to support their rehabilitation or long term health goals.

We’ve found your patients to be incredibly engaged and motivated, and it’s rewarding to be part of their progress. Whether that’s getting back to running pain free or simply enjoying walking again.

What’s one thing you wish more runners — or people considering running — understood about footwear before they come in?

That there is no single “best shoe” only the best shoe for you.

Footwear is highly individual. What works for a friend, a pro athlete, or someone online may not suit your body, your gait, or your goals. Getting the right fit and function can make a huge difference not just in performance, but in comfort and injury prevention.

Can you tell us a little about the team — who are you, and what drives the passion behind the service you provide?

At The Running Centre, our team is made up of passionate runners, walkers, and movement lovers who genuinely care about helping people feel better through movement.

Many of us have decades of experience in footwear and fitting, and we bring a combination of technical knowledge and real world running experience. We love seeing someone go from discomfort or uncertainty to confidence and enjoyment.

At the heart of it, we believe movement is powerful. It improves physical health, mental wellbeing, and quality of life. Being able to play even a small part in someone’s journey is what drives us every day.
