One Brave Step Can Help Change Lives
This November, our Director, Dr Alan Le, will be stepping well outside his comfort zone by abseiling 130 metres down Perth’s Central Park Tower in support of Prostate Care WA.
As an Ambassador for this incredible fundraising event, Alan will be joining Prostate Care WA CEO Michelle Wright and a group of dedicated Perth professionals, all taking on a challenge that represents something much bigger than themselves.
There’s just one condition…
If we can raise $1,000, Alan has promised to take the plunge!
We’re already halfway there thanks to Perth Healthcare Centre’s $500 donation. Now we’d love the support of our patients, families and wider community to help us reach the goal.
Why This Cause Matters
Hearing the words “you have prostate cancer” can be one of the most frightening moments in a man’s life.
For many, it immediately feels like a death sentence.
The reality, however, is often far more hopeful.
Thanks to earlier detection, advances in medical treatment and greater awareness, most prostate cancers are highly treatable, particularly when they’re found early. Many men continue living long, active and fulfilling lives after diagnosis. In some cases, treatment may simply involve careful monitoring, while others benefit from surgery, targeted radiation, medication or lifestyle changes that help them continue doing the things they love.
That doesn’t mean the journey is easy.
A diagnosis still brings uncertainty, difficult decisions and emotional challenges for both the man and those who love him. That’s why organisations like Prostate Care WA are so important. They ensure no one has to face that journey alone.
More Than Medical Treatment
Prostate Care WA provides practical and emotional support for Western Australian men and their families through:
- Education and awareness programs
- Counselling and support services
- Information to help men make informed treatment decisions
- Support for partners and families
- Promoting the importance of early detection and regular health checks
Their work reminds men that a diagnosis is not the end of the story, it’s simply the beginning of a new chapter, one that can often be faced with confidence, hope and the right support.
Why Alan Is Taking the Leap
At Perth Healthcare Centre, we believe health is about more than treating pain.
It’s about helping people live healthier, happier lives and supporting the wellbeing of our community.
When Alan was asked to become an Ambassador for Prostate Care WA, saying yes meant saying yes to a challenge that genuinely pushed him outside his comfort zone.
The abseil is exciting, a little nerve-racking, and for a great cause.
If stepping over the edge helps raise awareness, encourages one more man to get checked, or helps another family receive the support they need, then every metre down that building will be worth it.
Every Donation Makes a Difference
Whether you donate $10, $30 or more, every contribution helps support Western Australian men and their families affected by prostate cancer.
Your donation helps fund services that provide reassurance, education and support during one of life’s most challenging experiences.
As an added bonus:
- Every donation is tax deductible.
- You’re supporting a trusted local charity.
- You’re helping spread an important message about men’s health and early detection.
Together, small acts of generosity create a lasting impact.
